Bison Kids Club
Kids in K-5th grade are eligible to participate in Bison Kids Club, an afterschool program offered in collaboration with McCook Public Schools. Bison Kids Club takes place until 5:30 each day at McCook Elementary School on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and at the YMCA on Wednesdays.
Enrollment
At this time Bison Kids Club is full for the 2024-25 school year. Interested students may fill out an enrollment form and be placed on the waitlist. Completed enrollment packets may be returned to the YMCA, McCook Elementary, or McCook Central. Students must fill out a new enrollment form each year to be placed on the waitlist and secure a spot. Enrollment forms for the next school year are generally available in late April-early May.
Program Goals
Bison Kids Club is a collaboration between McCook Public Schools and the McCook YMCA. The McCook Public Schools and McCook YMCA Bison Kids Club is based on structured learning opportunities and aims to improve academic success in the classroom. Bison Kids Club participants are empowered to become independent, critical thinkers, who have strong self-management and social skills. Our weekly activities include the promotion of academics, physical well-being, STEM skills, arts integration, character and leadership traits, homework help, and literacy skills.
Guidelines and Registration
Participants must enroll in Bison Kids Club for the entire school year. Participants are expected to attend for at least one hour each day and 3 days each week to receive maximum program benefits. Those who do not meet attendance requirements may have their spot terminated at the discretion of the program director. Space is limited for Bison Kids Club and is offered on a first come, first served basis. Students of St. Pat’s are welcome to participate in Bison Kids Club, but must note that the program follows the MPS academic calendar.
