YMCA Youth Tumbling Summer Camps

  • Tumble Bugs (Ages 3-5): 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM A vibrant class designed to introduce our young tumblers to the fun world of tumbling, where they’ll learn basic skills in a playful and engaging environment.
  • Baby Bugs (Ages 1.5-3): 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM Parent-supported and tailored for our youngest tumblers, this class focuses on simple movements and coordination activities, encouraging parent-child bonding through physical fitness.
  • Jitterbugs (Ages 5-7): 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM For our older tumblers, this class challenges children with more advanced techniques, promoting higher skill development and athleticism in a fun and encouraging setting.

Jitter Bugs class takes the skills developed at the Tumble Bugs class and uses them to begin learning more difficult skills. All students are encouraged to develop their tumbling skills in balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength of body and mind in a safe and nurturing environment that encourages the enjoyment of physical activity and self-confidence. Participation does not require to have taken Tumble Bugs.

Ages: 5-7 years old

Cost: Y-member $30/month, Community Member $45/month

Youth Boxing Summer Camp

Step into the ring this summer with our Youth Boxing Summer Camp at the YMCA, specifically crafted for young enthusiasts aged 10 to 15. This two-week intensive camp, taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, offers the perfect opportunity for budding boxers to learn the fundamentals of boxing, enhance their physical fitness, and develop discipline and self-confidence in a supportive and energetic environment.

Summer Camp Dates:

  • June 18 – 27: Tues & Thurs 10:00 – 11:30 am
  • July 9 – 18: Tues & Thurs 10:00 – 11:30 am
  • Age Group: 10 to 15 years old
  • Focus: Introduction to boxing fundamentals, including stance, footwork, punches, and defensive techniques, alongside conditioning exercises to improve strength, agility, and endurance.

YMCA Tumbling Team

The YMCA of McCook is building a tumbling team for ages 5-7, to compete in the “Creative Movement Gymnastics Invitational”, held April 13, 2024, in Atwood, KS.

Our tumbling coaches will spend 12-weeks teaching students their routines and memorize them in a specific class being offered for the event. Other competitors will also be doing the same memorized routine as our students. The competition requires one routine to memorize, and they have a choice to do an optional routine which is made up by the student.

The YMCA Tumble Team has already been invited to the invitational in Atwood and is excited to start a new chapter creating a tumbling team in McCook.

Youth Strength Training Summer Camp

Join us at the YMCA for an invigorating Youth Strength Training Summer Camp, designed exclusively for young athletes and fitness enthusiasts aged 10 to 15. Over the course of two weeks, with sessions running every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, participants will engage in a variety of strength training exercises tailored to their age group, promoting healthy growth, improving athletic performance, and instilling a lifelong love for fitness.

Camp Details:

  • Age Group: 10 to 15 years old
  • Dates: June 3 – 14 & July 22 – Aug 2
    • 10 – 12 yr olds 9:30 – 10:30 am
    • 13 – 15 yr olds 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Focus: Age-appropriate strength training, including bodyweight exercises, resistance training, and foundational weightlifting techniques. The program also incorporates elements of flexibility, balance, and endurance training to ensure a well-rounded fitness regimen.

Camp Highlights:

  • Professional Coaching: Our certified trainers are experienced in youth fitness, ensuring a safe, supportive, and motivating environment.
