Youth Softball
2024 Season: The YMCA of McCook has partnered with the McCook Midget Baseball Association to host Girls Youth Softball in the Spring/Summer of 2024. The following divisions will be offered in 2024. Child should be registered in the division that corresponds with their current grade for the 2023-2024 school year.
- Girls T-Softball (Pre-K/Kindergarten) Must be 5 years old prior to May 7th.
- Girls Sluggers Machine Pitch Softball (1st-2nd Grade)
- Third graders may be allowed to register in the 1st/2nd grade division upon request to the Sports Director if they have no other options and would like to play.
Registration: Registration opens February 1, 2024. Online registration is highly recommended to expedite the league management process and to avoid data entry errors. A current email address is required for all participants at time of registration as all league communications with coaches, parents, and volunteers will be conducted through email.
Please register early to ensure placement. Please note that late entries will not be accepted for the following reasons: 1) Delays in team formation 2) Unbalanced team rosters 3) Team shirt order deadlines 4) Administrative deadlines
Registration Fee: Members $36; Non-members $56
Equipment Provided: Teams will receive practice balls, helmets, and tees (t-ball only). Team shirts will be handed out to teams prior to their first game.
Equipment Recommended: Bats, gloves, and softball cleats (no metal spikes).
Competition Format: TBD depending on number of teams. Teams can expect to play approximately 6 games.
Game Location: Felling Field
Coaches: Mandatory Coaches meeting & clinic will take place on Monday, April 15th at 6pm at the YMCA of McCook.
Practices: Practices may begin the week of April 15th. Practices will be conducted at least once weekly during the season and scheduled by coaches. Practice fields are not provided or reserved by the YMCA.
Games: All games will be played on Tuesday evenings beginning May 7th. Teams will play approx. 6 games over a 6 week period. Game dates are as follows: 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28, 6/4, and 6/11.
Background Checks: For the safety of our members and program participants, the YMCA of McCook requires all volunteer coaches to complete and pass a background check. This process will be conducted electronically through One Source and must be completed at minimum every three years. A coach will not be allowed to participate should they have an outstanding/pending/expired/denied background screen. Additionally, any volunteer coach who fails to complete the background check process will not be allowed to coach in any YMCA organized practice or game. A link from One Source will be provided via email to the volunteer coach by the Sports Director with additional information to get the background check process completed. The cost of the Background Check will be covered by the YMCA of McCook.
