Youth Basketball Competitive

The YMCA of McCook Competitive Youth Basketball league is designed for organized TEAMS. Individual participants may not register for this league. Registration is by TEAM only and must be completed online by the Coach.
 
Session #1: Boys 5th/6th Grade & Girls 5th/6th Grade
  • Season: November 13 – December 18.
  • Registration: Opens August 1. Please register using the link above.
  • Registration Deadline: Monday, Nov. 7 at 8am. NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE TAKEN AFTER Nov 7 at 8am.
  • Schedule: Will be posted November 8th.
  • Coaches Meeting: There will be a  coaches meeting on Thursday, November 10th at 6:00pm.
  • Games: All games will be played on Sundays. There will be five weeks of league play from November 13 – December 11. All teams will then be placed into a post-season tournament to be held December 17-18. Teams will play approximately 6-8 games total.

Session #2: Boys 3rd/4th Grade & Girls 3rd/4th Grade

  • Season: January 8 – February 12
  • Registration: Opens August 1. Please register using the link above.
  • Registration Deadline: Friday, December 23rd. NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE TAKEN AFTER December 23.
  • Schedule: Will be posted December 30th.
  • Coaches Meeting: There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Thursday, January 5th at 6:00pm. All teams must have either the head coach or an assistant in attendance.
  • Games: All games will be played on Sundays. There will be five weeks of league play from January 8 – February 5. All teams will then be placed into a post-season tournament to be held February 11-12. Teams will play approximately 6-8 games total.
Registration Fee: $225 per team
 
Practices: Due to limited court space, teams must practice at alternate locations. Practice space will not be available to Competitive League Teams.
 
Equipment: Teams must provide their own jerseys and basketball. Basketball/Athletic shoes are recommended. Black sole or non-athletic shoes are prohibited. No jewelry, watches, necklaces, etc. will be allowed.
 
Location: All games will be played at the YMCA of McCook.
 

Game Day & Practice Policies:

  • Food and drinks are prohibited in the gym. Only bottled water will be allowed.
  • Please pick up & dispose of trash properly.

Background Checks: For the safety of our members and program participants, the YMCA of McCook requires all volunteer coaches to complete and pass a background check. This process will be conducted electronically through One Source and must be completed at minimum every three years. A coach will not be allowed to participate should they have an outstanding/pending/expired/denied background screen. Additionally, any volunteer coach who fails to complete the background check process will not be allowed to coach in any YMCA organized practice or game. A link from One Source will be provided via email to the volunteer coach by the Sports Director with additional information to get the background check process completed. The cost of the Background Check will be covered by the YMCA of McCook.
